Breeding stallions: how it works

The Breeding stallions section supports stable owners and staff who manage the stallion side of a breeding business. It handles everything from semen collection to selling semen, processing orders and planning insemination routes, while the mare side is covered in the Breeding and Breeding mares sections.

What the stallion side covers

All activities revolve around the semen of your stallions – from collection to the moment it is used to inseminate a mare – and the settings you define determine what customers see and can purchase.

How it works together

1. Settings – define which stallions you sell, semen types (fresh or frozen), prices, shipping methods, agents / insemination stations, collection stations, terms and trusted countries.
2. Semen journal – record each semen collection; a mount is created and the inventory updates automatically.
3. Semen inventory – view the total Portions fresh and Straws frozen per stallion; the numbers reflect stock that is still available.
4. Tap a stallion row to open its detailed Semen inventory. Here you can view each fresh or frozen mount, edit the mount, print a label for fresh semen or destroy remaining stock via the Mount page.
5. Orders placed in your webshop or entered manually appear in Orders. From there you can edit the order, print the breeding agreement or export a shipping slip.
6. For a chosen shipping date open the Shipping list to pick the required fresh or frozen semen, undo a pick if needed, or create an external order when your own stock is insufficient.
7. Use Insemination routes to organise the daily route for inseminators – reorder rows by drag‑and‑drop and export the route as a PDF.
8. All breeding plans for mares are listed in Breeding plans. Filter by year, mare, stallion, usage type, add new plans or export the overview.
9. Open a specific Breeding to see the mare’s breeding plan, related orders, cycle checks and recent breeding activities, and add new orders directly from the plan.

The webshop for your customers

The webshop is the online shop of your stallion station. Customers create an account, register their mares, browse the stallions you set up in Settings, see the prices, shipping options, terms and trusted‑country rules, and place semen orders. Every webshop order is recorded in the Orders screen and follows the same picking, shipping and route workflow as manually entered orders.

Good to know

• The numbers shown in the Has Stock filter are summed from all mounts that still have usable portions or straws.
• Only stallions that have a breeding product defined in Settings appear in the inventory and order screens.
• Changing prices, shipping options, terms or trusted‑country rules in Settings updates the webshop instantly, so customers always see the current configuration.
• In the Shipping list you can add an external order when your own stock is insufficient; the Is overdue filter highlights orders whose shipping date has already passed.
