Horses

This page lists all horses in your organisation. Use it to find a horse, filter the list, export the data, or change the location of one or more horses.

What's on this page

  • Add horse button: opens the form to create a new horse. Only visible if you have permission to manage horses.
  • Export button: downloads the current list as an Excel file. Only appears on larger screens (desktop).
  • Stable filter: limits the list to a specific stable, a sub‑location, or Other for an external location.
  • Filter button: opens a panel where you can filter by group, category, gender, age, temporary away and other criteria.
  • Search by Name, UELN, etc... field: instantly narrows the list as you type.
  • Select button (small screens): starts selection mode so you can pick multiple horses.
  • Change button (appears after you select horses): opens the bulk‑edit modal to update fields for the selected horses.
  • Move button (appears after you select horses): a dropdown that lets you pick a new location (another stable, pasture, or external location) and start the move procedure.
  • Horses list: shows Name, Gender, Age, and Stable (or Location when external horses are shown). A label above the list shows how many horses are currently displayed.

Common tasks

Find a horse by name, UELN or chip number

  1. Type the name, UELN or chip number into the Search by Name, UELN, etc... field.
  2. The list updates instantly.

Filter horses by stable, gender, age, group or other criteria

  1. Tap the Stable filter and choose a stable, a sub‑location, or Other.
  2. (Optional) Tap Filter, tick the criteria you need, then close the panel.
  3. The list now shows only the matching horses.

Edit or move several horses at once

  1. Hover a horse picture (desktop) or tap Select (mobile) and tick the horses you want.
  2. Tap Change to open the bulk‑edit form, tick the fields to change, then press the Apply button to update the selected horses.
  3. Or tap Move, pick a destination from the dropdown and confirm.

Good to know

  • Only active horses with a stable are loaded initially; using search or any filter loads all horses, including inactive and external ones.
  • Selection mode starts when you hover a horse picture (desktop) or tap Select (mobile) and ends automatically when no horse remains selected.
  • Export button is only visible on larger screens; on a phone you need a computer to download the Excel file.
  • The Change bulk‑edit form only updates the fields you tick; untouched fields stay unchanged.

Horse basic details

This dialog displays the basic information of a horse that the system already knows, letting you verify it's the correct horse before completing the add.

Active

  • A green check means the horse is marked as active, a red X means inactive.

Default ride

  • Shows the default rider and also the default groom, trainer, farrier and veterinarian; if a contact isn't known you'll see Unknown contact.

Group

  • Displays the name of the horse's group, if it belongs to one.

Current location

  • Shows the location (stable, box or other) where the horse is currently placed.

Number of weeks between each farrier visit

  • Indicates how often the farrier should be scheduled for this horse.

Bulk edit horses

Use this dialog to apply the same change to all selected horses at once.

Group

  • Tick the checkbox, then choose a group (or None) to set for every horse; untouched leaves current group.

Vaccination rule

  • Tick, then pick a vaccination rule (or None) for all horses; leaving it unchecked leaves each horse’s existing rule.

Gender

  • Tick, then select Male, Female, Unknown (or None to clear) for all horses.

Usage

  • Tick Usage, then check any of Use for Sport, Use for Breeding, Use for Care; unchecked flags are cleared.

Team

  • Tick Team, then assign a contact (or None) to Default rider, Default groom, Default farrier, Default vet, Default trainer, or click Create new contact; None clears the role.

After saving

  • The updates appear in the horse list; if any horse fails, an error is shown in the dialog.

Add horse

Use this dialog to add a new horse or reactivate an existing one.

Is external

  • Tick if the horse is not kept in any of your stables; the Stable, Location, and Usage fields disappear.

Horse location differs from stable

  • Check when the horse’s box or paddock isn’t the same as the stable; a Location field appears.

Is imported

  • Tick when the arrival is from another country; this marks the move as an import.

Stable

  • Select the Stable; if there’s only one it’s auto‑filled.

Usage

  • Pick which services (Care, Sport, Breeding) the horse participates in; shown only if those services are enabled.

Existing Horse

  • If an inactive horse with the same ID is found, a card appears; press Use to reactivate it or View to inspect details.

After saving

  • The horse is added (or re‑activated) and appears in the list; you may be prompted to report the move to RVO.
