Horse settings

Use this page when you set up care defaults for new horses, organise them into groups, or define vaccination policies for your stable.

Good to know

  • The Default vaccination rules dropdown in Horse care defaults only shows the vaccination rules you define on this page, so you can select a newly added rule as the default.
  • After saving new care defaults you’ll be asked whether to apply them to all horses; choose Yes to update all, No to keep current settings.
  • The three‑dot Edit / Remove menu appears for groups and for vaccination rules that belong to your organisation; other rules are view‑only.

Horse care defaults

This tile displays the default care intervals that are applied to new horses and the default vaccination rule.

Reading the Horse care defaults

If a definition shows Not configured, no default is set for that item.

  • Default vaccination rules: the rule used by default when vaccinating a horse.
  • Default farrier weeks: number of weeks between automatically scheduled farrier visits; empty = no automatic farrier planning.
  • Default dentist weeks: number of weeks between automatically scheduled dentist visits; empty = no automatic dentist planning.
  • Default deworm weeks: number of weeks between automatically scheduled deworming; empty = no automatic deworm planning.
  • Default rhino weeks: number of weeks between automatically scheduled rhino treatments; empty = no automatic rhino planning.

Change the default care settings

  1. Click Edit (pencil icon) on the tile header.
  2. In the Default vaccination rules dropdown, choose a rule or None.
  3. Enter a number in each Default … weeks field, or clear it to stop automatic scheduling.
  4. Click Save. If any value changed, a confirmation appears; click Yes to apply to all horses, or No to keep existing horses unchanged.
  5. Click Cancel to close without saving.

Good to know

  • The Edit button is only visible if you have permission to edit organisation settings.
  • New horses automatically get these defaults; existing horses only change after you confirm the bulk update.
  • Leaving a weeks field empty disables automatic scheduling for that care activity.

Groups

  3. Change the Name and click Save.

Delete a horse group

  1. Click the three-dot icon next to the group.
  2. Choose Remove.

Good to know

  • Groups can be used to filter the horse list, the horse calendar, care planning and feed planning.
  • Deleting a group cannot be undone; the horses remain but lose their group assignment.
